The brief was very interesting. The client sought plenty of natural light and greenery, plenty space for the family as primary occupant, and rooms for the parents and visiting guests. From the outside, the house looks like it employs a strategy to maximise its footprint by merely extruding the buildable area up and dividing the resulted volume into rooms. For MARK Associates, it’s the other way around. MARK Associates stacked the room requirements neatly into two three-storey volumes along the set back line; leaving the center of the site open as a multi-level courtyard. This massing compossition allow every room in the House have direct access to greeneries, landscape, natural lighting and natural ventilation.
