St. Regis, Maldives Vommuli Resort is our sixth expedition in international waters and our second prestigious project in the country after Shangri-La Maldives Resort & Spa, which earned us the Malaysian Interior Design Interior Builder’s award in 2009.
Can-I started work on this USD 2 million interior fit out project in October 2015 and completed in October 2016. Prior to starting work on site, we visited the designers in Singapore 1 -2 times a week upon the award of the contract. This was to ensure we fully understood the ideas and requirements for the project as conceptualised by the designers. We realised the numerous unique elements required customised parts, which were fabricated in just 1.5 months at our production floor. Procuring the remaining materials for the build and getting them to the worksite however, did not prove to be as simple.
As testament of our client’s satisfaction, we were further offered a small project as we neared completion – the refurbishment of the Male airport lounge. It was very satisfying indeed to be able to not just meet the designer’s expectations, but to excel in a way that engenders trust and reliability. We were able to complete this additional project in just a month and a half before returning home to Malaysia. As a sign of good will to our friends who assisted us in the Maldives, we gave our excess materials from the build for use in their local projects.
