About FLIP Studio
“ FLIP” is named after a FLIPPOP Art Space project we created in 2016. We rented a local storefront and renovated a 10 square meter space as an experimental urban mini-space for a variety of uses such as gallery, retail shop, cafe, etc. all depending on the current renter. The unique feature of FLIP is the “flipping” door: when it opens, it becomes a social space, connecting the interior with the street. FLIP believes through the transformation between scales, a multi-disciplinary approach can continue to expand the boundaries of architecture discipline, maintaining its pioneering and social vitality. The studio’s practice ranges from interior, architecture to urban design. For FLIP, architecture is the space to grow, in the role of time, with human activities, cities, surrounding relations. The studio’s focus is on how to provide a possibility, a place, for this relationship, by looking for an opportunity, sometimes an installation, sometimes an act, FLIP tries to bring a series of chemical reactions to space, to change and grow, to bring different scenes and experiences, to form a new type of social place. The studio's projects have been published in many internationally renowned media and magazines since its establishment, including Dezeen, Architectural Digest, ELLE DECO, Interior Design, DOMUS, Goood, FRAME, Trends+, INTERNI, etc, and have won the AIA Merit Award for Interior Architecture, 2023 AZ Award for Urban Interventation.
