About Kun Lim Architect

Kun Lim Architect was founded in 2000 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, whereas Kun Lim Studio LLC was set up in Seattle, USA in 2013. Both offices work together as one to provide architectural services over a wide range of building types such as sports complex, university, hospital, condominium, shopping mall, corporate office and industrial buildings, as well as professional services in the related disciplines of town planning, urban design and interior design. Our primary concerns are understanding the needs of our clients and helping them articulate their requirements. In our work, undivided attention is given to details and major considerations that are project specific. This ranges from optimization of land use to climatic response, relationship with the environment and context, integration with nature and landscape, and co-ordination with structural systems and other building services. Our works are featured regularly in both architectural and mainstream media, including TV. Some of our projects are winners of architectural design awards and competitions. The “practice” is headed by brothers K S Lim, a Bachelor of Architecture graduate from University of Melbourne, and Kun Lim, a Bachelor of Architecture graduate from University of Houston. K S Lim is based in Kuala Lumpur, while Kun Lim is based in Seattle. They are fully supported by a team of professionals trained in Architecture, Urban Design and Interior Design. K S Lim K S Lim graduated with the professional degree of Bachelor of Architecture from University of Melbourne. He is a registered architect in Malaysia. An all rounded architect with more than 30 years of working experience , K S Lim is well versed in all aspects of architectural practice such as schematic design, design development, detail design and contract administration. He started his own practice 30 years ago, and has designed and implemented all sort of projects such as sports complex, university, condominium, hospital, industrial facilities, bungalow, office and car showroom. Kun Lim Kun Lim is a principal of Kun Lim Architect in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia since 2000, and Kun Lim Studio LLC in Seattle, USA since 2013. Kun Lim’s portfolio is comprised of projects from an aquarium, sports complex and hospital to a shopping mall, mosque, university and new township. He served as Lead Designer/Planner from 1994-1996 for Putrajaya, the new administrative capital city of Malaysia, in which his concept master plan for the city was declared winner in a local design competition in 1994. Kun Lim and his project are featured regularly in both architectural and mainstream media, including TV. He speaks regularly about his projects in conferences and seminars in many countries such as Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, France, Spain, UAE and USA. Kun Lim is Chairman of the Seattle International Architecture Forum (SIAF), a committee with the American Institute of Architects Seattle Chapter. SIAF broadens cross-cultural horizons, provides mentoring and educational opportunities for the architects community via many events and forums it organized through out the year.
