PETALING JAYA: Three factors will help develop “holistic Malaysians” who are educated and well qualified by 2020.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak outlined these factors as:
Najib said that for the country to remain competitive and achieve Vision 2020, the public and private sectors must work together to develop human capital. This was the most critical element of the holistic Malaysian, he said in his speech at the unveiling of plans for Taylor’s University College new lakeside campus here yesterday.
Najib said both the Government and the private sector should consider the three factors that he had outlined. Speaking at a press conference later, Najib commented on reports on a plan being mooted to charge motorists entering Kuala Lumpur. He said there was no such plan.
“The idea to impose the charges is one of the views that we have received (to reduce traffic congestion in the city).
“The Cabinet will have the final say on any policy matter.”
Taylor’s chairman Tan Sri Dr Syed Jalaludin Syed Salim said the new lakeside campus would be developed in phases. The first phase would be completed by 2009, to mark Taylor’s 40th anniversary. “The lakeside campus affirms our commitment to fulfil Malaysia’s goal of becoming a regional centre of education excellence,” he said.
