Today we are pleased to announce another step towards achieving these sustainability goals at Bona.
As Bona continues its journey for a more sustainable future, one focus area is increasing our use of recycled, renewable, and other non-virgin plastic solutions for our packaging. As a result, we are now rolling out new containers (bottles and jugs) that contain more than 50% post-consumer recycled plastic.
While the package may look a bit different with a slightly more greyish look, the product inside has not changed. The Bona product quality and shelf life remain unchanged.
All our cans and bottles will gradually be converted from virgin plastic HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) to more than 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) HDPE plastic.
With a long history of sustainability, Bona continues to be at the forefront of sustainable innovation and solutions. The Bona sustainability goals lead us to continually look for better ways to minimize our climate impact and to help move our products and processes into a circular usage of plastic. By 2025 we should have reduced our use of virgin fossil-based plastic by at least 50% of the total plastic use in our primary packaging (base year 2020). This development is one more step towards reducing our carbon footprint and achieving our sub-vision of being carbon-neutral by 2040.
