Arizona-based Havasu Regional Medical Center needed an upgrade for its old, worn, resilient floors. Important to the process, the facility sought a cost-effective solution to renew and improve the operating room floors with minimal downtime. This led the medical center to the Bona Commercial System® Resilient Floor Solution which upgraded the floors without the mess, expense, and time-intensive process of tearing out the floors. The Bona Commercial System Resilient Floor Solution offered a cost savings of up to 75%, a 4 hour renewal process, with only 18 total downtime hours. Compared to the standard new floor installation process which runs a minimum of three days and costs several hundred thousand dollars more, the benefit of utilizing the Bona Resilient System was clear.
THE CHALLENGE
At Havasu Regional Medical Center, the operating room floor needed a major upgrade. Standard wear and tear left the floor slippery and unsafe for the staff. Because of continuous cleaning and use of
anti-bacterial chemicals the floor became slippery, resulting in a number of employee falls and injuries. The administration considered replacing the floor, which meant the room would be out of use for at least three days. They sought a better solution that could offer the same floor renovation result but with less downtime and expense.
The Solution
Bona teamed up with Havasu Reginal Medical Center to offer a revolutionary solution- a faster, more sustainable floor renewal system. The facility team was introduced to the Bona Commercial system Resilient Floor renewal system. A simple, easy-to-follow process used to upgrade resilient floors in less than half the time it would take to replace the floor, with minimal disturbance to the rest of the facility.
The below testimonial highlights the challenges from the old floor that are no longer an issue with The Bona Commercial System® Floor Solution; cracking, seams, difficulties with cleaning and maintenance, as well as being a significant safety and trip hazard.
âWe would reach a point where we have to completely replace the floors at a huge cost and shut down the ORs for an extended amount of time or we have to be out of compliance.â- Mark Mayberry, security and Emergency Management Coordinator
