Atrium Floor Renovation

The European Oak engineered plank floor was originally finished in a natural look 2-component hardwax oil that hasn’t stood up to the demand of this busy dining area and was demonstrating signs of accelerated wear.

After liaising with the Technical Team at Bona UK, it was decided to refinish the floor using the very hard-wearing Bona Traffic HD. However, with a tricky design brief to fulfil, the venue needed the floor to support the stunning aesthetic created for this historic yet opulently designed interior.

After careful consideration, the white pigmented Bona Natural Primer was specified followed by two coats of Bona Traffic HD Extra Matt. Fulfilling the brief to retain the natural look of the oak and keep it in line with the design aesthetic.

Using Bona’s Low VOC products and the Bona DCS dust extraction system, the floor was renovated over a 3-day restaurant shutdown keeping disruption to business at a minimum and ensuring a safe working environment for all. No mean feat when you consider the fixed furniture and many supporting structural pillars in the Atrium space!

The hotel team is delighted with the results. A new maintenance regime has been instigated using Bona products and it is planned to recoat the floor annually to maintain its beautiful, natural look.
