Pristine garden displays and cascading epiphytic flowering plant sourced from across Singaporeâs many community gardens were on display earlier this month at the 3rd iteration of the Community Garden Festival, held this year at the newly reinvigorated Jurong Lake Gardens.
This year, over 100 Community in Bloom gardeners and ambassadors from across Singapore worked together to create a gorgeous outdoor garden display based on the theme âGardening through the Yearsâ.As Singapore marks its bicentennial year, the display had 3 sections to express the evolution of gardening trends in Singapore from the 1960s to the present day, evolving from simple gardens to modern and vertical gardens with biophilic features.
Elmich VersiTank® and VersiWall® GP were utilised in the âModern Singaporeâ segment to adorn the set-piece with eye-catching plant displays. VersiTank® modules were stacked to create free-standing vertical columns, onto which VersiWall® GP mounting panels and trays were attached, creating a lush vertical green wall, signifying the modern trend of âskyriseâ greenery in Singapore. These columns were established in prominent photo-spots within the garden where visitors can take a break on a swing while experiencing the serenity of the surrounding greenery.
Apart from the headline display, extraordinary-sized crops were also on display in a competition to claim the title of longest, heaviest, or largest produce grown in Singaporeâs many neighbourhood community gardens. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat was the guest of honour for the event.
