With the launch of Plant Lydia in Shenyang, China, the BMW Group has increased the size of its manufacturing footprint in China. This significant expansion of the BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) production base is the most recent manifestation of the BMW iFACTORY strategy and establishes new benchmarks for manufacturing vehicles with a focus on the future in the age of intelligent and electric vehicles. Particularly, Plant Lydia makes history with its innovative digitization applications, reiterating the BMW Group's dominance in the world of automobile production.
BMW Group wanted to focus on developing a collaborative area in an empty facility that might influence internal climate rather than just opening the Shengyang Plant. BMW wanted a room with acoustic ceiling tiles, good sound, and lighting that would encourage the team's creative energy and foster a secure and welcoming environment.
Rockfon Color-all® CONCRETE A24: Dimension 1200x600x40 (6004.8㎡)
The different rooms were thoughtfully designed to ensure that the ambience reflected the interior designer's vision. The plant was designed with innovation and sustainability in mind. Rockfon being a leading supplier of acoustics ceiling tiles and wall solutions were called in to strategize on a creative design that allowed for collaborative space and sustainability.
Plant Lydia is the largest single investment project in the history of the BMW Group in China, with a total investment of RMB 15 billion. The plant, which is situated in Shenyang's Tiexi District and has all four major manufacturing stages (press and body shop, paint shop, and assembly), raises the production base's annual capacity to 830,000 units.
Plant Lydia is completely adaptable and can create vehicles that are up to 100 percent electric in order to satisfy the growing demand for e-mobility among consumers. In May, manufacturing of the brand-new BMW i3, the automaker's first mid-size sports sedan that is exclusively electric for the Chinese market, began at Plant Lydia.
From the lobby, the main office spaces and even the cafeteria, Rockfon’ strategic creativity is based on precision and of the highest quality in its ceiling tiles. Beautiful and sustainable are what comes to mind when you walk into the Shenyang plant.

An office cafeteria is a bustling location where all staff members congregate to chat, unwind, and sometimes even hold casual lunch meetings. The combination of a frequently exposed area for food preparation and a crowded area with thousands of people presents a special difficulty in terms of acoustics and hygiene.
The above innovative and aesthetically pleasing frameless acoustic ceiling island offers excellent sound absorption and compliments an industrial styled design office. BMW was given a variety of options of ceiling tiles to choose from - choosing the circle shape for their cafeteria area and the rectangle shapes for the office areas helped to enhance the space even further plus excellent sound absorption.
We are dedicated to giving everyone the tools they need to meet the growth difficulties of contemporary life. The stone wool ceiling tiles and wall panels from Rockfon provide a number of cutting-edge and environmentally friendly advantages in addition to their capacity to provide acoustics, fire safety, durability, and a number of other advantages.
People need places to not just dream large but also to act on those ideas, making the world a better place for everyone. These spaces can range from classrooms to stadiums, land to landmarks. This dedication is unbreakable.
