25 Elizabeth Street was previously an unused a multi-storey heritage office building located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.
BELL was engaged to provide architecture and interior design services during a full base building upgrade revitalising all levels to reactivate and tenant the building.
After removal of several layers of wall and ceilings linings, the original natural state of the property revealed rich timber flooring and colonial brickwork. The design team and client celebrated the original state of the building and created industrial style office spaces.
The confined inner-city nature of the building required careful consideration of access and Building Code legislation.
BELL managed the investigations and numerous subsequent Alternative Solutions applications, without delay to the project timeline.
The completed project successfully retained the heritage of the precinct while creating highly functional working spaces, and the building was fully tenanted within six months of completion in 2017.
