A timely update for a much loved resort in Phuket amongst regulars, we set out to create an alternative imagery for Boathouse focusing to keep the property's legacy, while creating a fresh perspective on the term ‘nautical’. Despite many new add ons, some key structures remained as we wanted their loyal guests to still feel at home, discovering something new, yet familiar. Diverting from a more traditional boat-design theme, nautical influences are embraced, and provides a reoccurring theme throughout the hotel. The theme is centred around elements of a yacht - a representation of a vehicle that will carry the space from the wooden boat feel, to a modern, world class resort.
Attention is given to many details. The facade has a new layer of skin made of stacked glazed bricks that symbolises glistening sea. The grey shades of colour thorough the interiors contemporizes the look, and tensile structures akin modern sails adorn the entrance driveway. Stepping within, no expense was spared to carefully curate the nautical influences. From the way curved walls and corrugated features that are inspired by hulls, water and oars, wood flooring patterns that are iconic to yacht decking, to furniture & decorative elements such as lamps and table legs fashioned after actual yacht equipment.
Walking along the reception, the use of blue corrugated wall features alongside with pin lights are positioned to create an imagery of reflection of the water, enforcing thus nautical experience.
In the rooms, the use of rope as hangers and sea flag patterns on cushion enable the same conversation to go on. The end result is a space that puts guests at ease, yet delight in the little details of design in every corner. A place to enjoy and create new memories for the future. All ready for the new voyage.
