A house renovation project for a 3 generation family member. Basic needs for 4 bedrooms with a personal bathroom each, left so little space for a green area as breathing space and light source to the interior. The strategy taken for this condition is to break the building massing with corridors and the skylight above it which not only performs as daylight source to the interior but also as a place for the building to breathe.
Another challenge is to respond to the minimum budget constraint with a minimum touch on finishing and details yet thrive to achieve an artistic rustic expression. Minimum demolition, re-use of existing waste, bare finishing are maximized to achieve subtle aesthetical value with a limited budget. As result, the building appears on a very neutral warm – grey tone, that is adaptable to the client’s existing vintage furniture, where the architecture appears plain and humble as a canvas for the client to decorate and breathes the soul to their new home.
