The essence of the Narrogin Cottage Homes project was to create a therapeutic environment that would nurture, stimulate and liberate people living with dementia. Through a collaborative design process SPH architecture + interiors was able to draw on the scientific knowledge and first hand experience of health professionals, to ensure a best practice facility centred around the functional needs of both residents and support staff. The design engages residents in communal activities whilst offering private spaces for retreat and relaxation in order to enable residents to live with dignity, whilst promoting greater independence in a secure environment. SPH architecture + interiors were engaged as full service consultants for the 14 bed facility covering the design, documentation and construction management for the project. The project was successfully completed on time and on budget in late 2017.
