This PFI project is an upgrade to the existing CIQ facilities in Bukit Kayu Hitam in view of the projected increase in volume of daily crossing between the Malaysia-Thailand border via Bukit Kayu Hitam. Construction works were carried out in two phases to allow continuity of border control operation and ease of transition by the multiple government agencies.
ICQS Complex Bukit Kayu Hitam represents a renewed gateway image into the borders of Malaysia where it connects to the Asian Highway (AH2) road network. The bright yellow colour scheme of the complex pays homage to the state Kedah, known for its scenic gold paddy fields.
