Seletar Airport, the oldest airport in Singapore, was built in the late 1920s. Today, it is Singapore’s second civilian airport, serving general aviation and business aviation. In an effort to boost its handling capacity, a new passenger terminal was constructed with several enhancements to the airside facilities.
This project was awarded to Takenaka Corporation with Megastone being nominated by the Changi Airport Group to work on the new airport parking stands, taxiway and other ancillary works.
To enable the passengers to board their flights conveniently, three aircraft parking stands adjacent to the terminal were constructed. This reduces the need for passengers to be shuttled, enabling greater operational efficiency and faster aircraft turnaround time. For better connectivity, a new aircraft taxiway was also built and paved with hot mix asphalt - Changi (HMAC PG 82), connecting to the existing aircraft parking stands and taxiways.
Concurrently, the drainage system was upgraded with the construction of a 815m-long open U-drain of various widths, a 85m-long box-culvert drain and a 150m-long grated U-drain sitting on RC piles. In addition, new airport security fence was erected while new cable ducting system was installed.
