Eplus Architecture were engaged by a return client to design their future retirement home, a house to ‘age in place’ and enjoy life without the complexities of a large property to care for. In a rare but delightful scenario of designing a new home for clients in which we had a well-educated and in depth understanding of, ensured a minimalist and refined design solution could be achieved. With a clear brief and design aesthetic established early, much of the design ambition and effort went into ensuring the strong form and simple material pallet was expressed and celebrated to its potential.
A simple 3 pavilion layout (guest & services, living and sleeping pavilions) was set out around a central private courtyard connecting to the landscape via a body of water. Forms and tones of the local vernacular of Trentham pin the building to its site ensuring the building is “of place” and the layout and function “for client”
