About ROOOT Studio
ROOOT Studio undertakes a narrative-driven approach by intertwining storytelling into interior design to re-invent spaces into a whole new light that opens up meaningful and unique experiences. Since our inception in 2014, ROOOT Studio has managed numerous projects, spanning across residential, commercial and hospitality industries. We collaborate closely with our contractors to provide an integrated design and seamless project delivery. We are fully involved in all stages of design construction – conceptual design, design development, project management and interior styling. This involvement is the cornerstone of our excellence as we aspire to evoke positive emotions within our clients throughout the phases of the projects. TEAM The idea of ROOOT Studio is conceived by three classmates who got to know one another during their university days while taking their bachelor degree in interior design at Lasalle College of the Arts. They have various years of industrial experience across the residential, commercial and hospitality design arena. The studio is made up of a team of spontaneous, carefree and insanely happy people. They work, play and dream together. They hope to make a little dent to the design universe and do great design that brings joy to people. Alex Chua (Creative Director) BA (First Class Hons) Interior Design, GUL Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the most narcissistic of them all? Looking into his own reflection is Alex’s daily dose of supplement. Alex believes design should evoke self-expression and have a pinch of personal touch that reflects one’s lifestyle. He loves sharing stories, and is an adjunct lecturer at the Nanyang Academics of Fine Arts and Nanyang Polytechnic. Shao Jie (Design Director) BA Interior Design, GUL They say curiosity kills the cat, but that doesn’t stop SJ – an avid adventurer – from questioning and exploring new possibilities. He believes that keeping his feet on hard surfaces aids in creativity and productivity. Don’t be too surprised to spot little stools below his desk to anchor his feet. He was awarded the Nippon Young Designer (Gold) award in 2012 and is an adjunct lecturer at Lasalle College of the Arts. Jun Wei (Project Director) BA Interior Design, GUL Jun Wei has a lifelong hobby — building LEGO blocks, and dreams to build his house out of it one day. Fascinated by how things are constructed, he believes good design boils down to the minute detail, to the extent of bolts and nuts. He tries to exercise once a week and hopes to have six packs one day.
