Since 1891, Texas has been home to one of the most impressive brick manufacturers in the United States. From the outset of its operations, Acme Brick Company (formerly Acme Pressed Brick Company) has succeeded as a result of visionary and aggressive leadership, dedicated and loyal employees, and dependable and reliable products. From its roots in a slowly urbanizing Texas in the late nineteenth century, Acme Brick has contributed to the economic development of the Southwest while becoming the largest American-owned producer of face brick in the world. “For Acme Brick is practically an institution in the Southwest,” writes historian and educator Edwin Lehr, “and is known far and wide for its accomplishments, its competitive spirit, its leadership, its stability, its adaptability, and its tenacious desire to be on top.”1 Acme Brick has grown tremendously, despite constant changes in the industry and the country, by remaining flexible and relying on those foundational tenets of aggressive leadership, a dedicated workforce, and superior products. For these reasons, Acme Brick Company has evolved into a titan in the brickmaking industry for the past 125 years.
BRIGHT IDEAS
In ways large and small, Acme Brick associates work hard to make brick a sustainable, high-performance building material that's as good for the environment as it is for the people who build with it.
