our story

Flavor Paper is known for creating conversational handscreened and digital wallpaper that flips tradition on its head. Since we opened up shop in 2003, our off-the-wall vision and passion for pushing the innovation envelope with unexpected materials and new technology— cue holographic and ponyskin grounds, scratch-and-sniff scents, Day-Glo and invisible inks, and more—has garnered awards worldwide. Our modus operandi, if it isn’t perfectly clear: Explore all boundaries of conventional wallcovering design...and then break them. 

the origins of flavor

To say that Flavor Paper's history is storied is an understatement! Originally founded on the Oregon coast by a guy named Ted, the small handscreened wallpaper company flourished in the Age of Aquarius. Many years later, some young designers seeking striking wallcoverings discovered Ted's greatness - just days before the designs and equipment were to be destroyed. Knowing what had to be done, they headed west to save Ted's legacy...and here we are! Click through to get the whole scoop.

Flavor Paper produces wallpaper by handscreened and digital printing; sometimes both for special projects. In either case we use water-based inks (latex or eco-solvent) to be as green as possible, and only the finest ground substrates with eco-friendly materials available for both processes. All Flavor Paper is tailor-made, so you're free to interchange colors and grounds with handscreened wallpaper; you can play around with scale and colors for digital designs. It's your world. Welcome to the Flavor Lair, our Brooklyn headquarters that we’ve called home since 2009 when we decided it was time to expand out of our original Flavor Lab in New Orleans. Located at 216 Pacific Street at the junction of Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights and Downtown Brooklyn, we’re right in the heart of the scene with Manhattan at our fingertips. What we’re saying is that it’s easy for anyone to get here, and worth the visit! Check us out.
