History
1992
Established in Los Angeles by Sebastian Giefer, Griplock® Systems begins designing and marketing adjustable cable suspension systems, primarily for the Linear Fluorescent Lighting and Theatrical Rigging Industries. Griplock® partners with Reutlinger GmbH of Frankfurt, Germany to manufacture an exclusive line of Griplock Grippers for the North, Central and South American markets. Established in 1873, Reutlinger GmbH of Frankfurt, Germany, one of the oldest wire cable manufacturers in Europe, introduced its cable-gripping system over 20 years ago.
1994
Griplock® adds its proprietary Art Suspension System for Galleries, Museums and private collections.
1997
Company moves to Santa Barbara, California.
1999
Griplock® develops a secondary line of economically priced Asian manufactured product.
2002
Company moves to new headquarters and warehouse space in Carpinteria, California.
2006
Griplock® develops new products for the Sign Hanging, HVAC and Cable Tray Suspension Industries and introduces Reutlinger’s line of award-winning heavy-duty Grippers with weight load capacities exceeding 5,000 Lbs.
2007
Griplock® presents a complete new line of satin-chrome Grippers for the Retail Display and Retail Signage Industry.
Griplock® introduces a Reverse Release Heavy Duty Gripper to the Oil Tank Industry for use in supporting Internal Floating Roofs.
2008
KCA Partners, Ltd. invests in Griplock® Systems, LLC. Sebastian Giefer assumes a seat on the Board of Directors, remaining involved in product development and customer relationships. Hugo Napier steps into the role of EVP-Sales. Martha Groszewski, former CFO of Patagonia, joins Griplock® as CEO.
2010
Griplock® introduces a new line of Industrial Cable Suspension Systems to support high bay installations and retrofits.
2013
Griplock® develops and presents at Lightfair a UL approved, fully adjustable Class ll Cable Suspension System for LED and other low voltage fixtures.
Griplock® Systems moves to a larger warehouse and office space in Carpinteria, CA to keep up with growth.
2014
Patent awarded for Rincon® Powered Suspension System.
2015
Griplock® develops and presents at Lightfair the Solimar® Powered Suspension System, a UL approved, dual-conductor coaxial Class ll Cable Suspension System for LED and other low voltage fixtures.
Griplock® introduces Wisp™. A combination of the smallest grippers (Type 10 and Type 12 ) and the thinnest aircraft cable on the market.
2016
Salt Creek Capital invests in Griplock® Systems, LLC. Todd Hemingway joins Griplock® as CEO.
2018
Griplock® Systems expands operations on the East Coast, opening a second facility in South Carolina.
