In 1947, Norlake was founded in the garage of a creamery in Hudson, Wisconsin (located just east of St. Paul and Minneapolis). In the beginning, Norlake designed refrigeration products for bar and restaurant operations and some of its first products are still being used today.
Norlake originally manufactured ice cube makers. Over time, the company expanded its operations to include a large variety of foodservice refrigeration products. In 1982, Norlake created a separate Scientific Division.
Norlake has been a consistent leader in refrigeration innovation and design:
1981 - Norlake increased the insulation properties and energy savings of its products by changing from fiberglass to polyurethane foam insulation
1989 - Norlake was the first U.S. commercial refrigeration company to introduce a HCFC blowing Ozone Guard-22 polyurethane insulation, which reduced the amount of ozone depleting CFCs given off by the refrigeration products
1994 - Norlake became one of the first companies in the commercial refrigeration industry to receive ISO 9001 certification
1997 - Norlake started using CFC free foam to be used in its polyurethane insulation
Norlake, Incorporated has grown to be a leader in the designing and manufacturing of quality refrigeration products. With its dedication to service and high-quality product line, Nor-Lake has earned one of the most respected names in the refrigeration industry.
