Our History

Founded in the United Kingdom by James Halstead in 1915, Polyflor’s parent company James Halstead PLC specialized in the dyeing, finishing, and waterproofing of textiles. As a family business, the company later expanded to revolutionize the flooring industry with resilience, evolving to engineer and brand homogeneous sheet vinyl, beginning in 1952. 

Brands Polyflor, Polysafe, and Expona now lead the flooring market from within the global James Halstead PLC dynasty offering homogenous, heterogeneous, safety, slip resistant and luxury vinyl tiles amongst many other product types.
